Another year of cosplay documented - 2016 is over

Every year I write a sum up of what I have made and experienced through that year. This is mostly for myself, as a diary, because after a while it is not always as easy to remember which year I made what costume.
What a year!

Fallout upgrade
This is not a totally new cosplay, but I ended up creating a whole new look with the shaved head so I still think it deserved a spot on my "highlights of the year".

Other happenings in 2016I have done a few other things that I want to highlight as well.

Easter eggs
Every year I make several Easter Eggs to give out on my facebook page.

Book
I have also written and published my very first book about cosplay and I really hope I get the chance to write one more.

Also:

  • Qualified to NCC - so much focus on that in 2017
  • I was a guest at both Advik and Geekcore
  • Visited the childrens ward at Rikshospitalet
  • I made a Birthday sword
  • I was on the NO/DK team for Overwatch all stars
  • And I got to be a mentor for a student <3

Game Developer Barbie

I loved playing with Barbie dolls as a kid, and I was encouraged to design and sew my own clothes for the dolls, making them everything from princesses to jungle and underwater explorers (we had a huge garden).

I also love that Barbie is now a game developer. Both the style and "life style" of this dolls matches me irl pretty good. So closet cosplay it is.

I even got photographer Ice of Tin to shoot some laidback cafe photos.

Ice Queen

When you have a lot of leftover Polymorph you need to make up new projects, or I do at least. So I though why not make a glowing Ice crown. The Polymorph was sculpted around LEDs to make it glow :)

And since I now have a crown, why not make an entire Ice Queen costume. I have a feeling I have named a lot of my OC characters something Queen, that seems to be my style ;)

Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite

A few years back I made a cosplay of Elizabeth from Bioshock, but I never got around to do a proper photoshoot. But during Metrocon I got together with wonderful photographer Tom Vidar Johannesen. I also haven't made a proper tutorial for this costume, as I had no idea what I was doing when making it (it is not well made). So all I have of tutorials are for the Brooch and Salt bottle.

Summer version.
I also did a summer version of Elizabeth, No jacket and a "tie around the waist" skirt.

Bombshell Wonder Woman

There was something about the design of this Wonder Woman that caught my attention. She's sexy, but not vulgar and has a kick ass attitude. It also seemed fairly simple, making it a perfect Sunday outfit for a convention.
Official art from DC Comics.

Bandanna
The head band was just sewed from two pieces on interfaced cotton, with the red star sewed on. The stars are embroidered appliques I found in Japan.

Shirt
I had an old red shirt which I never use (expect this one time when i cosplayed Poison Ivy). So I added a white collar and an emblem in front to change it into my wonder woman shirt.

Emblem was made by sewing red stretch fabric over a yellow felt piece.

Shorts
Shorts were sewn from a modified Burda pattern, with zipper in the back.

Belt
The belt buckle was laser cut from plywood. Glued together with wood glue, spray painted, airbrushed and highlighted. It is attached to a elastic belt.

Bracers
I made a vector file with the pattern for the bracers and then laser cut it into worbla.

The worbla was wrapped around a foam piece.

Heated to shape

Silver basecoat.

And black acrylic weathering.

Shoes
I actually had the perfect shoes for this cosplay, except they were white. I have never tried to dye shoes before and took this as a challenge. My first attempt was with synthetic leather spray color. Too bad one can wasn't enough. Good news, the color held really well once applied.

I finished the coloring with my airbrush and acrylic paint. The white parts were glued on.
